Created in 1992 within the College of Construction and Development, the Center for City and Town Development (CCTD) is the in-house platform that integrates the faculty talents from land management, architecture and urban planning departments to conduct team-oriented environmental planning, design and management tasks sponsored by both public and private sectors and to provide off-campus social services.

It was envisioned that through the CCTD, individualized research works can be converted into multi-disciplinary studies and departmental cooperation. Future research areas of the center include town and country development plan, national land use planning, local development, community development, urban and rural marketing, housing estate development, green architecture and sustainable national development.
