Electro-acoustic Measurement Method and Experiments

Course Description

This course presents the methods and practical aspects of measuring sound and acoustic noise radiation. It places a strong emphasis on the interpretation of the various statistical measures that can be employed. The course is approximately 1/3 lecture, and 2/3 laboratory. Topics to be covered are: 1. Measurement of Speakers: a) Frequency response, b) Each order of harmonic waves distortion and total harmonic distortion, c) Impedance curve. 2. Measurement of Microphones: a) Frequency response, b) Sensitivity, c) Impedance curve, d) Directivity, e) Sound quality. 3. Measurement of Earphones: a) Frequency response, b) Each order of harmonic waves distortion and total harmonic distortion, c) Output curves. 4. Measurement of Noise: a) Frequency response, b) Impedance curves.
