Course Description

This course focuses on actual hands on design of multi-way loudspeaker systems. A typical system design workflow is introduced.  The basic relationship between driver parameters and performance is explained, and various enclosure and crossover configuration trade-offs are presented. Students will plan a speaker design project, commence with their project as planned or modified, present design explanations in design reviews, and develop an actual speaker system for verification, validation, and listening evaluation.

Understand speaker driver parameters and their relevance to speaker systems design



Understand enclosure, driver, crossover, and amplifier interface performances and their interrelations in the design process.



Understand various enclosure design configurations.



Understand various crossover design configurations and trade-offs.



Know how to use various design and measurement tools.


Understand measurement data and listening impressions.



Practice the process of project planning, schedule control, and design review.
